Can I use aviation fuel in my car?
Jet fuel can actually be used in cars, but only in diesel engines. Kerosene jet fuel and diesel are actually similar enough to allow for cross-functionality and would provide a similar performance. Both are derived from crude oil, and both run their respective engines on combustion.

Is avgas bad for your car?
When used in a motor vehicle this fuel will leave a lot of lead deposits in the motor. 100LL has a high lead content (0.5 grams per litre), even higher than leaded race fuels. The deposits left when TEL(lead) is burned are corrosive and damaging to valves, valve guides, valve seats and cylinder heads.

This fuel is expensive for a number of reasons: 100LL fuel has many more “aromatic” hydrocarbons than mogas (auto fuel) in order to increase the octane levels and prevent fuel from vaporizing in your lines at high altitude. It’s much higher grade, so it costs more.
